The County Government of Siaya has begun the process of distributing fingerlings to farmers in an effort to boost fish production.Governor James Orengo however has expressed concerns over carrying out the activity in Lake Victoria due to increasing insecurity in the Lake, following frequent attacks and harassment of Kenyan fishermen by Ugandan security officials.Speaking at the shores of Liunda Beach during the celebration of World Fishing Day, Governor Orengo stressed that it is important for the Kenyan government to hold talks with the neighboring Ugandan government with the intention of ending the border dispute in Lake Victoria, explaining that the dispute is increasingly reducing the production of fish in the Lake.Source: Kenya News Agency
