The Mayor of Belo, Boyo Division of the North West Region of Cameroon who was killed on May 20, 2024 has been laid to rest.The remains of the deceased academician and politician, Dr Ngong Innocent Ankiambom received honors at the funeral ceremony on July 27 holding at École de Poste Yaounde.In attendance was a cross section of Mayors from the North West, former PM Yang Philemon among other mourners from the political, academic and social folds.Mayor Ngong Innocent was remembered as one of the few local administrators who braved the odds to be present in their communities marked as red zones in the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West.Born in 1978, Dr Ngong Innocent was killed by separatist fighters on Monday, May 20, 2024 together with the Inspector of Basic Education for Belo and one Councilor on their way to the grandstand.The deceased at his demise was four years into his first term as CPDM elected Mayor of Belo Council.Source: Cameroon News Agency
