South Nyanza Churches Prepare for Consecration of New Regional Bishop

Nairobi: At least 70 Redeemed Gospel Churches in the South Nyanza Region are planning to consecrate their new regional Bishop, Vitalis Odour, with the event to be presided over by the denomination’s founder, Archbishop Arthur Kitonga. Rev. Oduor, the senior Pastor of the Redeemed Gospel Church Oyugis and the current sub-regional overseer, will officially assume his duties on November 29, succeeding Bishop Moses Chengo, who is retiring.

According to Kenya News Agency, Rev. Oduor stated that his new role would involve overseeing the regions of Migori, Homa Bay, Kisii, and Nyamira Counties, in addition to parts of Kisumu up to Ahero Junction. In preparation for the event, the church is mobilizing resources to accommodate the expected large number of visitors at Agoro Sare High School in Oyugis, as the church premises are insufficient for the occasion.

Rev. Oduor emphasized that all 16 regions of the Redeemed Gospel Churches, each led by a bishop, will be present at the event, inviting everyone to join and listen to the word of God in accordance with the church’s vision. “The vision of the church is to preach the word of God and reach the unreached with the Good news,” he stated.

Emily Oduor, the Reverend’s spouse, extended an invitation to all denominations in the region, including those not affiliated with the Redeemed Gospel Church. Meanwhile, Caroline Oundo, the Church Treasurer, expressed confidence in a high turnout, acknowledging the substantial financial requirements for the event and urging friends and well-wishers to offer support through financial contributions or other forms of assistance.

Assistant Pastor Mary Othiambo praised God for blessing the Oyugis church with a Bishop, highlighting that the new position brings greater responsibility for all church members to support the incoming Bishop in fulfilling his duties.
