SportPesa and FKF Unveil 2025/26 Season of SportPesa League

Nairobi: The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and SportPesa have inaugurated the SportPesa League 2025/26 Season, marking the commencement of their 10-year partnership for Kenya's top-tier football league this weekend.According to Kenya News Agency, this landmark agreement, valued at Sh1.12 billion, represents a substantial boost to Kenyan football. SportPesa's commitment is aimed at nurturing the growth and development of football in Kenya, providing a platform for teams and players to fully realize their potential. The financial support begins with Sh85 million in the first year and will gradually increase to 145 million by the tenth year. Of the sponsorship funds, 60 percent will be distributed to the 18 participating clubs, while the federation will receive 40 percent for managing the league.During the launch event at a Nairobi hotel, SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri emphasized the company's dedication to the SportPesa League. "We are thrilled to launch this league today. We have started the journey of the rebuilding phase to go back to the success we achieved together in the past. Football in Kenya will reclaim its lost glory. Over the years, we will steadily make great progress and strides," he stated. The new league format prioritizes player welfare, introducing an enhanced awards and recognition model that will award 20 million in prize money to the top three clubs at the season's conclusion.FKF President Hussein Mohammed, alongside FKF National Executive Committee members and club chairmen, emphasized the league's long-term ambition as a feeder for the national team, with the bold objective of having Kenya compete in the World Cup within the next decade. Mohammed expressed confidence in the partnership's ability to provide stability and resources, transforming the SportPesa League into one of Africa's premier leagues. This includes improved prize money, fortified club structures, and elevated media standards, all aimed at advancing Kenyan football."The 2025/26 SportPesa League Season officially kicks o ff on 20th September, featuring an exciting array of fixtures, with live broadcast coverage provided by Azam TV," Mohammed added.
