Three die in accident

Three teenage boys lost their lives at Masantare area along the Narok- Bomet Highway after the motorcycle that they were riding on was involved in an accident.

Narok County Police Commander Riko Ngare confirmed the last night’s accident saying the motorcycle rider, aged 18 years, was riding from Bomet Town carrying two pillion passengers, both aged 17 years.

At Masantare, the rider attempted to overtake a vehicle but unfortunately collided head-on with an oncoming Isuzu FRR lorry.

The two pillion passengers died on the spot while the rider was rushed to Ololulunga Sub County Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. The driver of the lorry escaped unhurt.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Longisa Hospital Mortuary where they are preserved pending autopsy. The ill-fated motorcycle and lorry were towed to Ololulunga police station awaiting inspection.

The accident occurred only a week after a motorbike rider died on the spot after he was knocked down by a matatu at Duka Moja area along the Narok
– Maai Mahiu Road.

While speaking in a church service at Ntulele area last Sunday, Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu lamented over the increasing number of accidents involving motorcyclists and asked riders to follow traffic regulations to avoid causing deaths.

Ntutu recalled that just a month ago, two brothers lost their lives while riding on a motorbike near Ntulele trading center while three tourists and their driver died in a road accident near Katakala area.
