A fishing expedition turned tragic after a middle-aged man drowned in a fish pond in the South Nyakach location of Kisumu County.The deceased who was in the company of two unidentified men slipped and fell in the pond on Tuesday evening.According to eyewitnesses, the deceased struggled in the water but the two men could not help since they were intoxicated.A rescue team mobilized by Upper Nyakach Division Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Dawin Orina and Ogoro Police Station Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Samson Barchok rushed to the scene and retrieved the body.The body was moved to Nyabondo Mission Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem as police launched investigations into the incident.Upper Nyakach Division Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Dawin Orina condoled with the family and appealed for calm as police conducted investigations.'We have launched investigations to establish how this incident happened. We shall give a full report once the investigations are concluded,' he said.O rina cautioned public members not to venture into fish ponds and other water bodies during the short rain season to avoid such tragedies.Source: Kenya News Agency
