Windhoek man allegedly assaults mother to death

The Khomas police have arrested a 38-year-old man on Monday, who reportedly assaulted his 66-year-old biological mother to death in the capital.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in an incident report on Tuesday indicated that the incident happened around 06h50 on Wednesday and the case was only registered after a family member of the deceased, Fransina Rooinasie, reported the case to the police on Monday.

“It is alleged that the suspect, the biological son of the deceased, assaulted the mother and she was taken to the Katutura State Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries,” the report read.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Kaupasaneua Kariazu died in a Gobabis hospital in the Omaheke Region on Sunday after he was attacked in an alleged mob attack.

According to the report, the incident happened on Saturday between 16h00 and 17h00 at the Okashandja deport industrial area, where the deceased was stabbed with a knife, after he got involved in a quarrel with another male.

It is alleged that the quarrel was stopped, however, two suspects emerged from a bar and started with the quarrel again, where after they chased the deceased and stabbed him with a knife on his neck.

The deceased then fell down and was assisted by witnesses to the hospital where he was admitted.

The suspects are known and are still to be arrested.

His next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
