Inhabitants in the Nkolmesseng neighborhood in the Yaounde V district have expressed anger over what they qualify as their 'total abandonment by security officials to the bloody hands of murderers' found everywhere in the capital city. This was voiced in the presence of some security elements early Monday January 1, 2024 precisely at a place called Lyceé where the lifeless body of a 21-year-old man stabbed to death by unknown hoodlums was found. Bertrand Mbayo, the most recent victim, is the third person stabbed and killed in cold blood in Nkolmesseng within a year.'Killings of persons and stabbing is alarming in this neighborhood, even in broad daylight. From 6pm the insecurity is alarming and the Delegate General for National Security and the National Gendarmerie boss live in this neighborhood. We have been abandoned by them and other authorities. In Yaounde with all the security and administrative authorities, our security is not guaranteed. They are not doing anything, despite series of complaints,' Yi mga Moussa, an inhabitant of the Nkolmesseng neighborhood lamented. The furious population of Nkolmesseng wish that the police and gendarmes work on a daily basis around Yaounde like they did during the Christmas and New year celebrations. They believe their patrols and raids will put an end to the killings and attacks in the capital city.Investigations have been opened to identify and track down the killers of Bertrand Mbayo.Source: Cameroon News Agency
