Gnagna: Members of the BogandE Citizen Watch reached an agreement on Sunday with an intercity transport company, resulting in the maintenance of the initial fare of 5,000 FCFA on the BogandE-Ouagadougou route. The company had increased the price of transport to 6000, which the citizen watchdog had described as inappropriate in view of the economic difficulties of the local population.
According to Burkina Information Agency, “We welcome the openness of the company, which agreed to reverse the increase. The price therefore remains at 5,000 CFA francs, and activities can resume normally,” said a member of the citizens’ movement after the discussions. The transport company acknowledged the management difficulties linked to the poor condition of the roads, which had motivated the price increase. However, in the face of social pressure and after mediation by several local dignitaries, the management decided to postpone this decision.
Pending other, more sustainable solutions, the old rates will apply. Activities have therefore resumed calmly, while both parties call for more regular and inclusive dialogue in the future.
