Governor Jama To Youth: Be Responsible Citizens


Garissa County Governor, Nathif Jama, has challenged the youth in the region to shun activities that may jeopardise their future and instead take-up arising opportunities in business spheres and innovation to earn a living.

Governor Jama assured that his Administration will always strive to support the young generation to be self-dependent and to take their position in contributing to the economy besides fending for their families.

The Governor made the remarks during a colourful mass wedding ceremony for 86 couples held in Garissa town, yesterday.

The newly married couples were 43 young men and ladies.

The nuptial exchange was also attended by several leaders, including the Garissa Township Member of Parliament, Dekow Barrow, senior National and County government officials, Imams and Sheikhs.

Jama regretted that many youth, not only in the county but nationwide, are faced with the challenge of securing gainful employment, promising that his Administration will strive to create a conducive environment fo
r investment and job-creation.

The Governor noted that idle youth can be dangerous not only to themselves, as they may be tempted to engage in antisocial activities, including crime and radicalization.

Governor Jama wished the newly wed happy family life and prosperous future.
