Sandbontenga/Kaya Friendly Tournament Concludes with Olympic FC Clinching the Title


Kaya: The 2nd edition of the Kaya Friendly Tournament concluded with Olympic FC triumphing over AS-Triomphe by a score of 1-0. The final match, which took place on September 13, 2025, was presided over by the High Commissioner of Sandbondtenga and sponsored by Commander Wonrbeba Sougrinoma Basile Zongo, the Director General of the National Society of Precious Substances (SONASP). The event drew football enthusiasts to sector No. 4 of Kaya.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the tournament commenced on September 6, 2025, featuring eight teams. The final saw a tense encounter between two familiar rivals, Olympic FC and AS-Triomphe, who had faced off in the previous edition as well. Both teams showcased strategic gameplay, keeping spectators on edge until Olympic FC’s Issouf Sawadogo broke the deadlock in the 68th minute, securing victory for his team.



Olympic FC, lifting the champion’s trophy, was awarded medals, jerseys, a ball, and 75,000 CFA francs. AS-Triomphe, the runner-up, received similar accolades along with 50,000 CFA francs. The third and fourth-placed teams, AS Elite and REvElation de Saaba/Barsalogho, were also rewarded with jerseys, a ball, and cash prizes. Special recognition was given to standout teams and players.



PasnewendE OuEdraogo, the Secretary General of Sandbondtenga Province, praised the tournament for its role in engaging youth and fostering social cohesion. Sougrinoma Ibrahim Guigma, the tournament promoter, thanked the sponsors and supporters, highlighting the fair play exhibited throughout the competition.



Didier OuEdraogo, president of the organizing committee, noted the unique aspect of the tournament, which involves teams being interned during the competition. He introduced the selection of the top 11 players of the edition, whose talents will be evaluated by the national football federation for potential inclusion in national teams.



Enthusiasm is already building for the third edition set for 2026, promising further excitement and development in local football.
