The province of Moxico lacks the implementation of oncology services, with a view to diagnosing and treating cancer cases, ANGOP learned this Thursday.Speaking to the press, after discussing the topic of "cancer, prevention, consequences and treatment", the surgical intern at the Hospital Geral do Moxico (HGM), Augusto Ngombo, defended the implementation of this specialty, taking into account the rapid population growth that the region has registered.According to this professional, a unit with oncology services is necessary for the early diagnosis of cancer and neoplasia (benign and malignant tumors).Augusto Ngombo reported that this year the HGM registered five suspected cases of cancer, in patients aged between 38 and 67, who were advised to go to the country's capital (Luanda), to carry out a better diagnosis of the disease.He recalled that cancer, in addition to attacking women, has also attacked men over 60 years of age, and to prevent it it is necessary to adopt a healthy lifestyle, which invol ves permanent physical exercise, avoiding fatty foods and some drugs, especially pills or contraceptives (in the case of women).This month, nicknamed 'Pink October', is dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, with the aim of sharing information and providing greater access to diagnostic and treatment services and contributing to reducing the mortality rate.Source: Angola Press News Agency
