Tindiret: Tindiret Sub County is gearing up for a thrilling soccer showdown as preparations for the upcoming tournament gather pace. The competition, sponsored by Nandi Hills Tea Estate Ltd, will officially kick off on Wednesday, September 25, and conclude with a grand finale on Thursday, October 10th, at Songhor Sports Grounds.
According to Kenya News Agency, a total of 16 teams from across the wards in Tindiret have been cleared to participate. The opening day will feature Cheptuiyet FC against Kapkures Youth on September 25, followed by Lessos Rising Stars versus Kapngetuny FC on September 26. Defending champions Tindiret All Stars will play their first game on Friday, September 27, in what is expected to be a highly charged encounter.
The group stages will run from September 25 to October 2nd, the quarter-finals from October 3rd to 5th, and the semi-finals on October 7th and 8th, before the much-awaited final on October 10th. All matches will be played at community pitches in Chepseng’en, Kapserton, and Songhor, with the final slated for the Songhor Sports Grounds.
Samuel Maiyo, the Tindiret Sub County Sports Officer (SCSO), hailed the tournament as a key platform to nurture young talent. He noted that several scouts from regional clubs have been invited to attend the matches. Hellen Chepkorir, the Nandi County Director of Sports (CDS), praised the sponsor for investing in grassroots football, emphasizing the event’s role in community cohesion and youth opportunities.
The sponsor’s representative, Daniel Kosgei of Nandi Hills Tea Estate Ltd, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting local initiatives, adding that winners will receive a glittering trophy, sports kits, and cash rewards.
