Family of 6 slain in Nanga Eboko still in shock

The Shialah neighborhood in Bandjoun, Khoung-Khi division of the West region is still mourning the death of its 6 sons and daughters brutally murdered last April 6th in Nanga Eboko, centre region.

The father of the 31-year-old lady who was murdered (Vanessa) says he was informed of the macabre incident through a phone call.

“That day I heard a phone call. It was my wife who was being informed of the news. I was later called and was told that my whole family had been murdered in Yaounde,” Vanessa’s father Wafo Bernard explained.

The family still finds it very difficult to accept that such a horrible event occured.

“It has already happened, nothing can change it. I’m still in shock after seeing my younger sister slaughtered like an animal. This has never happened in our family. These are things we only see in films. We also learned that her ex-husband is behind this act,” Vanessa’s older sister added.

Youbi Vanessa, mother of Blessing Motue, Arnaud Talla and Ange Kandoum, her cousins Samira Cheguem and Dorcas Sorelle Wafo, student at the University of Yaounde II were all slaughtered last Thursday April 6th by unidentified people.

The main suspect according to family members is Vanessa’s ex-husband, Elvis Ndempowo, with whom she had two children. They explained that the enstranged couple was fighting over a piece of land and a house they both contributed to acquiring although they were not legally married. He has been arrested and alongside 3 other suspects.

For the moment, the remains of the 6 victims are still being retained by competent authorities in Nanga Eboko where investigations are ongoing.
